Super Buzzer Black Special Nymph
The detached body of the Super Buzzer Black gives it a life-like quality in both appearance and movement. I prefer this buzzer fished close to the surface under a buoyant fly or sight indicator.
Whenever there are plenty of flies circling the air above you, you can bet your life that underneath the waves it is no different. In reality, the aquatic insect life beneath the water probably triples what we see above it, so use a setup that relates to this.
Buzzer fishing is incredibly popular and productive at this time of year for that very reason; the most fashionable offerings at the moment are undoubtedly made from epoxy or other clear resins. However, I like to mix it up a little, fishing buzzer patterns that are a little more, well, natural. Featuring unsymmetrical, hairy bodies created using fibres rather than resin which I often think help enhance the ‘au naturale’ look.
Best fished: Using the same tactics you would for normal buzzer applications, long degreased leaders on a slow sink or sink tip fly lines with an incredibly slow figure of eight retrieve.
