UV Straggle Cruncher Orange

During July I often find myself fishing much more natural patterns than during say the winter months, this is purely down to the abundance of fly life now available to the Trout. They are now much less interested in chasing a large lure as their diet has completely switched to what the water offers them.

The Straggle Cruncher is another great nymph pattern that mimics several of the insects that lurk beneath the surface. This pattern however still has a little glitz or glamour about it thanks to its Fritz thorax, which acts as a hotspot or attractor to the resident fish, helping draw them into your offering.

Best fished: In around 1-2’ of water with a super slow, figure of eight retrieve. The Straggle Cruncher is also a phenomenal team player! Fish this fly on your top droppers with a lure or blob beneath to maximise your catch opportunities…
