Wet Fly – BLACK GNAT

Description

The Black Gnat Wet Fly represents a number of natural flies covered by the term ‘black gnat’.  These insects are generally terrestrial flies of the Bibio species; though some anglers consider the water-loving Empid flies to be the true Black Gnat. 

Whichever is the case, it does not alter the fact that the Black Gnat is found in the fly-boxes of most anglers.
